Natural World Products

Natural World Products (NWP) supported the Derry and Strabane region in 2024/2025— by sponsoring hands-on environmental education like the Wheelie Big Challenge workshops.

About Natural World Products

NWP is Northern Ireland’s leading organics-recycling company, converting household food and garden waste into high-quality, peat-free compost and soil conditioners. Their work strengthens soil health, supports biodiversity and carbon capture, and promotes sustainable, circular -economy practices across communities.

Their dedicated Community Outreach Team works to support growing and sustainability projects throughout NI — including giving young people and schools the tools to understand composting, soil health, and food growing as part of a wider environmental effort.

How NWP Supports Schools & Eco-Schools NI

  • Sponsorship of Eco-Schools Programme in Derry & Strabane — NWP partnered with Eco-Schools NI to enable many schools in the district to take part and achieve their Green Flag awards. Because of NWP support, 75% of schools in Derry and Strabane Council have an active Green Flag as of 2025! The highest percentage in all of Northern Ireland.

  • No-Dig Garden Clinics & Workshops for Teachers — NWP has delivered free “no-dig gardening” training courses for school teachers (both primary and secondary), giving them the skills and confidence to set up sustainable gardens in school grounds.

  • School Garden Projects & Polytunnel Installations — For example, at Hollybush Primary School in Derry, NWP supported the creation of a food-growing garden and polytunnel, transforming a previously unused space into a living, growing environment for pupils.

  • Compost & Soil-Health Education for Pupils — Through composting, wormery demonstrations and garden care events (e.g. during International Compost Awareness Week), NWP helps pupils understand organic recycling, soil health, food growing and environmental impacts.

Why Natural World Products Matters to Eco-Schools NI

By working with NWP, Eco-Schools NI gains a partner that:

  • Provides real, practical, sustainable resources (compost, soil, know-how) — not just theory.

  • Enables hands-on environmental education that connects pupils directly with nature: growing food, caring for soil, understanding recycling, biodiversity and climate impact.

  • Supports teachers with training, freeing them to integrate eco-projects into school life confidently.

  • Helps communities and schools across Derry, Strabane, and beyond, making environmental awareness inclusive and accessible.
