Wheelie Big Challenge

Want to reduce waste at your school? Join the Wheelie Big Challenge!

The Wheelie Big Challenge consists of three parts:
  1. Free Workshop - The Wheelie Big Challenge Workshop educates students about the importance of the 5 Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair and Recycle. The workshop challenges the school community to take a close look at what happens to their waste in school by guiding participants through an initial waste audit. Finally, the workshop urges participants to consider what actions they can take to tackle litter and waste problems at their school.
  2. Waste Audits - Complete your waste audits according to the guidelines and record your data.
  3. Final Report - The Wheelie Big Competition is a chance for you to showcase the effectiveness of your actions in school and at home by submitting a short written explanation of what you have done to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.

Schools which submit a winning competition entry and waste audit results (by Friday 26th April) will be invited to celebrate their success at the Eco-Schools Award celebration event in June 2024. Schools can win super prizes, up to £500 across Primary and Post-Primary schools, to support their Eco-Schools work.
